iBook: Creating Mobile Apps with Corona by GP Animations

Since I’ve been writing a lot of tutorials lately, I thought it might be worthwhile to write an entire iBook about creating apps with Corona SDK. However, once I got past the first 2 chapters, I began to wonder if anyone would even want an entire book on the subject.

To solve this question, I’ve decided to give away the first 2 chapters of the book for free. The only problem is, I hear it takes Apple quite awhile to approve iBooks so I’ll provide the link for the file here. Simply download the .ibooks file and sync it to your iPad via iTunes.

If you enjoy or hate the book with a passion, let me know and that will determine if I continue writing the rest of the book.

I’m aware of the typo in the poll question, I guess autocorrect got the best of me and now I can’t change it. Be sure to check your autocorrect, kids.

  1. for sure keep writing it; even if it doesn’t set the wold on fire (not saying it can’t!) – this will open up new doors you never even noticed. Besides – I’ve been playing w/ Corona for a while now and I’d still read it. BTW – a .pdf of ch1-2 would be much more read-ready friendly than the .ibooks – just sayin. Keep up the good work!

    1. I am considering releasing a .pdf version as well. The only problem is that there’s a video embedded into the book and there would probably be more if I continue to write more so I’d have to supply external links for .pdf readers.

  2. Thanks for the .pdf version! Absolutely you should finish the book.

I read the first chapter you made available to download and enjoyed it very much! You’ve got a great writing style, casual but informative and love the approach of jumping right into examples. if nothing else the book will be a great resume enhancement to highlight your Corona AND illustration abilities (love the illustrations – add a unique dimension to the book that most dev books don’t have)

besides, shops like Packt are always looking for authors, tech reviewers – so it may open up other doors.

    Overall: good stuff!
